October 28, 2009 - On October 22, 2009, the House Financial Services Committee approved legislation that would establish a new Consumer Financial Protection Agency ("CFPA"). The legislation approved by the Committee is a considerably revised version of H.R. 3126 (the "Consumer Financial Protection Agency Act of 2009"), which was originally introduced by Committee Chairman Barney Frank on July 8, 2009.
