July 6, 2009 - The Obama administration released on June 30, 2009 draft legislation [1] that would establish a new Consumer Financial Protection Agency ("CFPA"). The concepts embodied in this draft legislation ("CFPA Act") have been widely discussed for some time, and such concepts formed a major portion of the administration's overall proposals for financial regulatory reform that were formally published on June 17, 2009.
