JORDEN BURT ALERT: DOL Issues a Proposed Regulation to Improve Participant Fee and Expense Disclosure July 23, 2008
The Department of Labor has proposed that plan participants and beneficiaries in participant-directed individual account plans (e.g . 401(k) plans) be given uniform basic disclosure regarding plan and investment-related fee and expense information The regulation is the last of three proposals the Department announced it was working on in April 2006 (See Client Alert " Labor Department Announces Plans To Expand Fee Disclosure Under ERISA," from April 27, 2006) . The regulation, if finalized, would be effective for plan years beginning on or after January 1, 2009.
