Life Insurance

On February 15, 2006, the Fourth Circuit, by a vote of 2:1, upheld a lower court denial of plaintiffs' motion to certify a class of approximately 1.4 million industrial life insurance policyholders who alleged racial discrimination in connection with the sale and pricing of industrial life policies issued between 1910 and 1973. This decision represents a significant victory for the insurance industry.
